One of the key focuses of Subaru remains safety and saving lives on the roads. Subaru Johannesburg has taken it one step further by running blood drives at their dealership in Edenvale.

In South Africa we are painfully aware of the toll of traffic accidents especially over Easter and the Festive Season. The South African National Blood Services, or SANBS for short, runs blood drives across the country in hopes of replenishing their stocks particularly during these periods. However, they also need supplies for various other medical conditions and incidents.

Here are a few facts about blood donation:

• Less the 1% of South Africa are active blood donors.
• A unit of blood will only last 42 days after donation.
• Each donation of blood can save 3

Donations are separated into red blood cells, platelets and plasma.
